We are delighted to let you know that the Public Inquiry into the appeal by BioE Plc for a 50MW biomass power station at the Coedbach Washery Site, Kidwelly, has been withdrawn.
In view of this, I can confirm that the appeal file is now closed and no further action will be taken on it.
The Pre-Inquiry meeting, scheduled for Thursday 7 April has been cancelled as has the inquiry which was scheduled to open on 23 June.
We are also delighted to let you know the appeal at Kings Dock for a 50MW power station has been dismissed. Summary grounds for dismissal are:
- Landscape impact - its a really big building
- Visual impact - its impossible to hide
- Planning policy conflict - it is contra to a number of Swansea Planning Policies
We believe that this is the first appeal for a major biomass power station in the UK and we will continue to lobby against major biomass power station applications and support residents and other organisations who are fighting big biomass planning applications in their locality.
Coedbach Action Team Ltd Registration No. 6662006 is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to protecting our environment.
The Coedbach Action Team are currently fighting two appeals against two 50MW biomass power plants. One in Kings Dock, Swansea and a second at Coedbach, Kidwelly. Both applications have been refused planning permission and have now gone to appeal; both applications are by the same developer.
